The Bruce Peninsula
has long been
a favourite destination of my husband
and myself but this past August, we
happened on a dream — E’Terra — and
even more importantly a dream-maker —
Laurie Adams.
First impressions make an immediate
impact on me, good or bad, and Laurie,
a 5
th
generation entrepreneur, award
winning developer, speaker and writer
certainly caught my attention in a most
overwhelmingly, positive way.
We arrived at E’Terra for a two night
stay, knowing very little about it other
than what we had gleaned from the
website which sounded idyllic and
captured exactly what we were in need
of at the time... “An Oasis within the
Canadian Wilderness — A summit of
personal privacy, elegance & renowned
environmental design; on the diamantine
shores of Georgian Bay.” A large
promise indeed, but let me assure you,
it’s all true. And Laurie Adams is the
reason why.
I met Laurie in her kitchen, surrounded
by organic ingredients from her own
garden, preparing dinner for her guests.
Her infectious smile, direct gaze and
calm, welcoming demeanour said it all —
here is a person of substance.
As a child, Laurie remembers asking her
Grandmother “How big can heaven
be?” This honest, simple thought evolved
and merged with others through time.
Dedicated to the principles of
sustainable tourism and development,
she has never wavered in her beliefs
with respect to the balance and blending
of philosophies in Preservation,
Conservation and Health.

When the ‘study of the
household’ (ecology) and
the ‘management of the
household’ (economics) can
be merged, and when ethics
can be extended to include
environmental as well as
human values, then we can be
optimistic about the future of
humankind. Accordingly,
bringing together these 3E’s
is the ultimate holism and the
great challenge of our future.
