The fireplace
should be the starting point of a reno and the room will transform.
In choosing the fireplace, function is a very important component. The right size, the
right design and the right budget need to be factored into the project.
Peter and Jocelyn Mather wanted to create an entirely different atmosphere than
what was already existing in their Thornbury home. They wanted to transform a
“tired” space into something more attractive, updated and comfortable — a space
where they would enjoy spending more relaxation time. “They honestly didn’t know
where to start — they even considered buying new furniture and starting from there.”
says Anna Tomlinson, owner of Chantico Fireplace Gallery, “The old and outdated
brick corner fireplace was a problem and it needed to go.”
Ultimately in working with Anna and Roger at Chantico, a stunning new natural stone,
gas fireplace was built and has become the focal point of their newly designed living
room. Chantico offers over 20 years of technical experience and is one of a few com-
panies that offer intricate fireplace design and installations. “What was great about
working with Pete and Jocelyn is that they were very attentive and open to new ideas
and also had some wonderful ideas of their own.” says Anna Tomlinson.
Creating a fire feature in a home is not a do-it -yourself project. It is a collaboration
of home owner, professional trades, designers, masons and carpenters. “Chantico
Fireplace Gallery is proud to say we have worked with some of the area’s finest
trades to create some amazing fireplaces.”
