This Kitchen’s
oak cabinets were in good shape but the original finish was
fading and really looked tired. Replacing the cabinets didn’t seem necessary,
but a facelift was definitely needed and Kitchen Painters Inc. were the perfect
experts to call.
To begin, under-counter light valances were added, along with furniture style
kicks and decorative paneling was applied to the peninsula. The kitchen
lacked storage space for big items like pots and pans, so Kitchen Painters
Inc. added 2 large drawers and a long utensil drawer to the left of the
stove and the smaller existing drawers were moved to an attached desk
area in the dining room.
To completely renew the cabinets, they were sprayed with lacquer
based paint in "French Roast" by C2 paints. New hardware and a
premium laminate countertop really enhanced the rich, dramatic colour
beautifully. At this point the homeowners are still making decisions about adding
a glass tile backsplash!
Overall, this kitchen functioned very well and did not need to be completely replaced.
It just needed a few modifications and a fresh new, durable lacquer finish. The end
result is the same as installing a new custom kitchen but for a lot less.
