DO every day…
Sweat / move your body -
Healthy circulation and detoxification are important
for both nourishing your cells and moving the fluid in which your skin cells ‘steep.’
Goal:
20 minutes daily.
Hydration -
Your skin cells, like all other cells in your body, are not only filled with
water but surrounded by it too. Being under-hydrated will enhance wrinkles and laxity
of your skin.
Goal:
consume at least
½
your body weight in ounces. Eg. 160lb person requires
80oz of water each day. Limit diuretics (caffeine, alcohol) to 1 serving/day.
Sleep -
Adequate rest is absolutely essential. The ideal sleep cycle is a continuous
8hours;
Goal:
10pm-6am
Good oils -
The walls of your skin cells are composed of fats. Both the quality and
quantity of ingested oils will have a direct impact on the health of these cells.
Goal:
daily consumption of sources like avocado, raw nuts & seeds, ground flaxseeds.
Every colour of vegetable -
Not only are the hundreds of nutrients in each veg-
etable important for cellular health, a recent study out of the University of St. Andrews
found that those who ingested more veggies actually had a ‘healthier glow.’ This
‘glow’ is in part due to the pigments, or carotenoids, present in each vegetable.
Goal:
eat at least 500g daily.
AVOID…
Processed foods, including sugar -
These foods are nutrient-poor and can ac-
tually draw nutrients from your body & skin during their metabolism. Begin to focus
more on nutrition and less on simply convenience.
Alcohol -
The diuretic effect of alcohol directly influences the hydration quality of
your skin. You may know that alcohol is metabolized in your liver, but did you know
that liver function is reflected in the whites of your eyes? The healthier your liver, the
whiter your whites!
Smoking (of course) -
Not only do tobacco products contain many chemicals
which impact liver function and circulation, but smoking also depletes your body of
vitamin C; an essential co-factor in skin elasticity.
Constipation -
A daily bowel movement is essential. This is the primary waste-re-
moval route from your body; if this isn't moving regularly you could be reabsorbing
toxins meant for elimination.
TV &/or computer use after dinner -
These monitors emit blue light which can
inhibit serotonin and melatonin production in your brain; 2 essential chemicals for a
healthy sleep cycle.
To truly impact the health of your skin cells, and have it reflected back in your mirror,
commit to the outlined changes for the next month… and see the difference!
|E|
Did you know that it takes approximately 4-6 weeks for your skin cells to
mature from creation to the uppermost layer of your skin? Yes, you have en-
tirely new skin every 30-40 days! This amount of time is a great start for mak-
ing positive changes to physically see how they can impact your appearance...
from the inside out.
