Summer 2012 Escarpment Magaz ine
You won’t find us on any of cycling’s top-ten lists - yet -
but anyone
who has spent enough time up here knows that Collingwood and the surrounding area rivals any of
the so-called ‘must go’ destinations. Our seemingly endless supply of water, trails, and road matched
with great summer weather puts any high-altitude spot to shame. It’s no doubt why this area attracts
athletes and adrenaline junkies from all sorts of backgrounds.
The Escarpment provides an ideal playground to build fitness, skills, and a passion for the outdoors
at any level and ability. Although we are known to foster winter Olympians, some of Canada’s best
summer athletes also call this area home. Two of the best examples are a couple of speedy ladies I
share a few things in common with but can’t yet keep up with on a mountain bike – Amanda Sin, an-
other physiotherapist whoworks at MaximumPhysiotherapy, andMikaela “Fudge” Kofman, another
former Ontario ski teammember. Both represent Canada and their Ontario based 3 Rox Racing team
at national and international cross-country (XC) events.
