There is an access road that heads north from the parking
area into the forest. The road climbs a short steep hill, but don’t worry,
it is the only hill on this route and things level out once you’re at the top.
About 50 meters later you will see a trail that intersects the road.
The Len Gertler Side Trail, marked with blue blaze and forms a loop with the
main tract of the Bruce Trail through the Loree Forest. You can head in either
direction and you will eventually come back around to your starting point. The route is well
marked and should be easy enough to follow since it is one of the most widely used winter trails
in the area. If you only have hiking boots, don’t worry. It only takes a few days after a snowfall
for the loop to be packed down by users, making the forest easily traversable without the aid of
snowshoes or skis. This trail is perfect for towing kids in the toboggan, and even gives you a fleet-
ing glance of Georgian Bay from the top of Georgian Peaks Ski Club. Please remember though,
the top of the ski hill is private property and you should keep to the marked hiking trail.
