northwest of the Town of Meaford, in Grey County. The Project Area is located
south of the Community of Balaclava, east of the Community of Leith and ap-
proximately 4 km north of highway 26. Project components will be installed
on privately-owned agricultural lots within this area.
What’s New -

Accolades were recently handed out to two well-known area businessmen. A
surprise tribute to Gord Canning, CEO and Chairman of Blue Mountain Re-
sorts attracted a crowd of nearly 400 people. There is now a Gord Canning
Drive, formerly Mountain Road, and two newly named ski runs, Gord’s
Groove and Grandpa Gord’s Getaway! Rob Thorburn, the man behind Sce-
nic Caves, received a Lifetime Achievement Award at an October Ontario
Tourism summit.
It takes watchful eyes to figure out who is opening new businesses! Thornbury
has a host of new restaurants- Simplicity Bistro in the former Sterio’s premises,
a refurbished Mill Restaurant and Sisi’s, Ruffed Grouse Bistro in the Beaver
Motel, and the Bruce Wine Bar. Once known as a destination for interior de-
sign, the tiny village is attracting gourmands from throughout the area! Linda
Teed has retired from the flower business. The store sold flowers for 15 years
and then added a monument sales business and Toad-eez, a children’s bou-
tique. Linda will continue the monument business. A new business Paperwhite
Flowers has just opened in Linda’s former premises featuring custom flower
arrangements and hostess accessories.
In Collingwood, the new Shopper’s DrugMart on First Street opens in January
and the Esso Gas station is now up and running! The Tremont Café is getting
great reviews, the David Hillis Salon has opened on Hume Street, 97.7 The
Beach radio station has repositioned itself in the former Peak FM building on
Highway 26, and both the Blue Mountain Vacuum and Camera Source on
Hurontario have new owners. Ashanti has opened a second coffee
house/roastery in Collingwood at the corner of First and Elm. A must visit!
Big Bear has opened on Hurontario Street next to Minds Alive and the Artist’s
Den is new to Simcoe Street. Unfortunately, both Cotton Ginny and Tabi have
closed their premises in the Temple Building. Cotton Ginny has been replaced
by Golden Valley, a ladies fashion boutique. Paula Taylor has retired, closing
Three Peas in a Pod. Floral Renaissance and Blockbuster are both closed. Wal-
Mart is renovating its store to accommodate a wider range of groceries. Peak
2 Creek a paint and dsign store, has opened in Cranberry Mews.
When Barbara Kay decided to sell the wildly popular 100 Mile Market in
Meaford, the natural choice was EcoInhabit, an earth-inspired lifestyle and
building products store. The new 100 Mile Market, a partnership with EcoIn-
habit owners, Tim and Jan Singbeil, and Kara and Rob Wildeman, is located
on Highway 26 between Lora Bay Drive and Meaford.

classrooms, two computer labs, an “e-lab” a multi-function health sciences lab,
a student lounge and community room. Blue Mountain Resorts recently do-
