Q:
How has riding on the Escarpment helped you hone your
skills for the world stage?
A:
The Escarpment was the best place I could have grown up riding
halfpipe or park. The runs are the perfect size for freestyle skiing or
snowboarding. Doing lots of quick laps makes for fast and fun learning.
Q:
How do you handle the costs of the sport?
A:
Funding is probably the hardest part of doing this sport. I am lucky
to have grown up at Georgian Peaks where they are very supportive
of their high performance athletes and raise money to support us, which
is a HUGE help. Currently I have a pursu.it campaign (a website that
gives Canadian athletes a platform to be able to raise money), which I
am hoping will provide me with what I need until the Olympics.
Q:
You sacrificed a lot
coming up through the
competitive circuit –would
you do anything differ-
ently?
A:
I think growing up with this
lifestyle has given me different ex-
periences that I wouldn't give up
for anything. Getting to travel the
world while doing something I
love will always be something I
am grateful for.
