signs. Andas you can see on our map, the Es-
carpment hasa lot of town signs.
“Sprinting for signs takesa ride toanentirelydif-
ferent level. It’s competitiveand fun.Manybike
races come down to a sprint finish, and even
mid-race moments, like bridging a gap to a
break, require sprinting and recovery skills.
Smaller groups2-4 riders canusuallygo for all
the signs. Bigger groups should limit to the low
trafficsprints. If there isahintof trafficdanger the
sprint is neutralized, other than that light’er up.
One etiquette tip; don’t sprint off thewheels all
the time. Ifyou takeonecomingoffwheels, lead
out thenextone. Theobjective is tohave funand
learn how towin from different positions. No-
body likesawheelsuckandyouwant tobewel-

thinkof,but leftouta fewonpurpose;especially
on thebusier roads.Manyof thesmall towns that
dot our landscape have signs coming in from
multipledirections. Insteadof pinpointingevery
sign,we’ve just indicated itwithone icon.

goodone for sprinters to steal some of the
climbers thunder (as it’s actuallyadownhill
sprint).

tunists canget thisone.

RedWing – Heading north on 10th,
oneof the fastest sprints in thearea.

Ravenna – From both directions on
GreyRoad2.Goall out as you can takea
break and refuel at the Ravenna Country
Market.

Banks – From all 4 directions. Quiet
roadsmeans thisone is ripe for tactics.
