summer hike
From the parking lot it is a short walk back up
the road to the trailhead marked with a white
blaze. Follow the trail to the left, which will
eventually lead you to Pinnacle Rock a tow-
ering formation that offers a remarkable
view for those who are not afraid of heights
or a difficult climb.
(see photo at left)
The trail only gets better as you continue
along. You will discover a magical waterfall
followed by an open field of daisies and
more rolling forested trail, until finally you ar-
rive at the Crevice Caves. Deep chasms
carved into the forest floor, offer a cool dark
and exciting area to explore.
When you get to the Chuck Grant Side Trail follow the blue blaze to the right and
continue until you intersect the 10
th
Line. The Chuck Grant Side Trail continues into
the Metcalfe Rock area. If you would like to read about that section of the Bruce
Trail, go onto escarpmentmagazine.ca and scroll over the Bruce Trail drop down.
For this hike though, we are going to follow the road back to the parking area.
This is one of the longer hikes we’ve featured at close to 10 km. It will take you
about 3 hours and there is some difficult terrain, but it is well worth it. Make sure to
bring lots of water for yourself and although there are a few streams along the way
it is always a good idea to bring water for your four legged friends.
