2015
Every dollarwe raisedwas donated directly
toMy Friend’s House, a cause that still hides
beneath our collective consciousness, poking
as a persistent thorn in the side of a society
that would prefer to remain ignorant to the
numbers ofwomenwho suffer abuse.

Jaclyn Jones, anotherpart of thegreat
communityofCollingwood that Ian

me that, “ThepeopleatMyFriends

dependon thecharityof others to
helpwomenandchildrenes-

find 'home'”.
And that community is
growing.Ourboard

Peopleandbusinesses fromall acrossCollingwoodare supporting
thecauseandbecoming involved.
Why?
All of usare tied into thecommunityandhavea reason to love
Collingwood, itshillsand forestsand spirit. Theevent and
causearenoble; givingof oneself enriches the soul andcreates
a senseof self-satisfaction likenoother. Asanotherboard
memberNoelleWansbroughof Pedal PushersCycling says,
“It’sa feeling similar towinninga racebut evenbetter”.
This then is themotivation, the feelingof beingapart of a
group–a family - that isgiving. Beingconnected toothers that
have similar thoughtsandvoicesandcreating something together
that providesmeaningful support toacommunity they love.
I lovemountainbiking, I love the feelingof singlemindedness, of
concentrating so fullyon thecourse in front of you that all else
ispushed fromyour thoughts. Of pushingyourself toyour
limits, feeling thepowerof yourbodyunleased
throughyour connection to thebike. Of beingapart
of nature, biking through trees, colours, history, and
not only seeing it but smelling it, touching it, living it.
It isonly surpassedby the feelingof doing itwith
your friends, givingback toyour communityand
helpingothersmuch less fortunate thanyou.
I urgeyou to joinusanddiscover the feeling.
Our 4 man/woman/co-ed, group or solo mountain bike
relay race promises fun, excitement, a great ride on a
course that is not open to the public.
Enjoy the day doing what you love – mountain biking.
All proceeds go to My Friend's House, a safe place for
women and children who need to escape abusive situations.
Rain or shine, we’ll be there. Will you?
