Most of the items foundwithin theStonePhoenixwallsareagesold,with theexceptionof
thedining roomchairs. Inanother life the teakharvest tablehadbeen flooring inaWorld
War II Indonesianprisoner ofwar camp (the stories it could tell) and theoriental buffet to
the right of the table is over 800years old. Several pieces of ceramicpotterybyChinese
bornCanadianartistKayoO’Youngarescattered throughout thegreat roompullingpops
of colour from thesurroundings.Edna’s fathermade thecopper replicaof theSantaMaria
on the table in the living roomand it ishermost treasuredpiece,next to thosecommissioned
byTom. It’s hard to settleonwhat is the focal point of thismagical space. The room isper-
hapsanchoredby the largeyellow, purple, blackandgreenpaintingentitled "Conversa-
tion" byMontreal artist Jean Pierre Lafrance, whoalsopainteda largeentrypiece in the
Burri’s front hall.Nearlyeverywall of thehome ispainted inFarrowandBall StoneWhite,
whichhasadistinct, soft,mossygreenhue, reminiscent of amisty, Escarpment forest.
