Located
at the base of Blue Mountain
Resort, this two storey, 1700 square foot
townhouse has 3 bedrooms and 2.5
bathrooms and was built in the late
1980s. Although the previous owners
had made several updates including re-
placing the original shag carpet, the cur-
rent owners decided that it was finally
time to bring in their own style and charm.
They enlisted Rad Design Inc to help them
with a simple, worry free, aesthetic up-
grade to their weekend getaway while
sticking to a strict budget.
The owners inherited most of the furniture
in the living and dining rooms when they
purchased the property, and found them
to be in good condition. They asked the
designer to work the vision around the
existing pieces.
The original fireplace, with louvers and
brass detailing, felt out-of-date in the now
modern home, so the owners made a last
minute decision to replace it. Rad chose
a clear view, louverless design. The fire-
place surround was retiled and the stack
was painted a warm, custom mixed pur-
ple-grey to accentuate its shape and ver-
ticality. This colour was repeated behind
the dining table as an accent wall.
The beige 'cardboard box' coloured
walls, trims and doors were painted white
(OC65 Chantilly Lace by Benjamin
Moore).
