The kitchen was a complete do
over — an existing small pass
through was eliminated and ex-
pansive windows were added
above the sink. The new cabinets
reflect the character of the house
and are far more functional. The
dated Mexican tile was removed
and new, hand-scraped, oak
flooring was installed throughout.
A tongue and groove ceiling al-
lows for ample lighting and up-
dated electricals that needed to
be adjusted for the new layout.
The island has a distressed gray
finish, which was inspired by the
colour of the sofas in the livin-
groom and the island counter is a
fabulous, leathered quartzite and
is complimented by the wall cabi-
net and tiled backsplash.
The master bathroom was opened
up completely by removing some
built-in closets, and new, custom
cabinetry created a double sided
storage for “Jack and Jill” units. A
floating tub was added along with
a custom, glass shower unit. The
recreated vanity has a clean, up-
dated look, and built in medicine
cabinets are hidden behind ample
mirrors. The inspiration for the soft
palette was initiated by the wonder-
ful tile found by Tricia who smiles
and adds, “During the process we
tried tomaintain the character of the
home and were excited when it all
came together.”
