added layerofmetal. Littleend tableshadmetalbases that resembled jew-
elleryandotherpieces looked sculptural.Mirrors, light fixturesand lamps,
Midashad touchedsomanysurfacesand theywerenot just turned togold.
I love items that are unique and handmade, a little fresh, so my show
favouritewasadining tablewith liveedge topsportingagiantmetalzipper
down thecenterandhand forgedmetalbase.Made inCanada, this limited
edition designwas cheeky andbeautifully executed. Their ‘corkscrew’
tablewas in theHighPointoutdoorkiosks that featuredgreat showstopping
pieces. Wehavebrought this table line into thestorewithadouble ‘x’hand
forgedbaseanda thick table topmadeof reclaimed long leafyellowpine
from theStudebaker factory–a tablewitha storymeant to lastacoupleof
lifetimes.
So - in summary - colours in2016are softerandblues reign; handcrafted
isstillprized; legsaresexy;metalsarenot just for the industrial lookand fur
is fun too.
