the street,”explains thehomeowner. “The large second floorwindows
are an incredible feature andmake the house unique. They let in an
amazing amount of light during the winter and even help heat the
home.”
Functionalitywas amajor objectiveduring thedesignandbuild. “We
specifically wanted a great room, four bedrooms and a ‘kid room’
whereour childrencouldmakeamessandnoise,”explains thehome-
owner. “Thatwill soonbecome their teenhaven.”
The homeowners desperatelywantedan operational wood-burning
fireplace,butweremetwithanengineeringchallenge,as the fireplace
is on the second floor and literally sits in themiddle of the house. Be-
causeof this there is inadequate support underneath.
